A basic registration is required for food businesses with an annual turnover of less than ₹ 12 lakh. The registration can be done online through the FSSAI website or offline by submitting the prescribed application form to the concerned authority.

  • An affidavit sworn by the applicant before a Notary Public or Executive Magistrate, as the case may be, specifying that the premises to be licensed are not used for any other purpose than that of a food business and that no objection to the use of the premises for such purpose exists from any competent authority.
  • A certificate from the Municipal Corporation or Panchayat, as the case may be, having jurisdiction over the area in which the premises is situated, certifying that waste from the premises will not be allowed to flow into any water body or drain and that arrangements have been made for its proper disposal.
  • A declaration by the applicant that they have not been convicted of any offences punishable under Chapters IV and V of The Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006 (FSS Act) or under any other law for the time being in force relating to food safety and standards during the five years preceding the date of application.
  • In case of an existing food business, a copy of registration certificate issued under FSS Act or any other law for time being in force relating to food safety and standards along with a No Objection Certificate from FSSAI shall also be submitted.
