Reissue of a passport refers to the process of renewing or replacing an expired, damaged, or lost passport. It is required when the passport holder needs to travel or when the existing passport no longer meets the necessary criteria. The reissued passport contains updated information and is valid for a new term.

How to Apply for a Reissue of Passport Offline?
One must first go to the passport seva website to submit an application for a reissue of the passport. The person needs to go to that page and download the e-form from the “Forms and Affidavits” link on the left of the screen. The user will be directed to a website where they must decide whether they need a new passport or a passport reissue.
One can download the Police Clearance Certificate from the website as well (PCC). These forms must be filled out correctly with the necessary information, such as name, age, date of birth, address, old passport booklet number, the particular reason for a reissue, etc., and submitted to the Passport Office along with the pertinent identity proof, address proof, and old passport booklet.
An individual may also choose to submit the completed PCC form via his or her account on the official website for processing of the application in order to get a passport reissued.
How to Apply for a Reissue of Passport Online?
Step 1: Log on to passport seva portal
Step 2: Register an account
Step 3: Next, click on ‘Passport Type‘ and proceed to fill out the online checklist like applying for, type of application, number of pages in the passport booklet, name etc. along with other details
Step 4: Thereafter click ‘Next’ and schedule an appointment with the Passport Seva Kendra (PSK)
Step 5: For doing so, click on ‘View saved / submitted applications‘
Step 6: Next, select the relevant application and click ‘Pay’
Step 7: Choose the method of payment and the required PSK in the region
Step 8: Authenticate and click on ‘Next‘
Step 9: Pay and book the appointment
Step 10: On doing so, an application receipt will be auto-generated
Step 11: Take and printout of the receipt and carry it on the specified date and time of the appointment
Documents Required for Reissue of Passport
Identity proof:
A legitimate document with the applicant’s complete name on it. This must be submitted because it should be listed on the person’s passport as well as on official records.
Age proof:
A document that confirms the applicant’s date of birth is also required to be submitted. Birth certificate or a school leaving certificate that clearly mentions the date of birth serves the purpose of age proof.
Address proof:
Additionally required is a document proving the applicant’s residence. The address listed in the document and the one listed on the application form must match.
Photographs:
hough most Passport Seva Kendras are equipped with cameras designed to take passport sized photographs of the applicants, individuals are required to submit 2 recent passport sized photographs of themselves while applying for passport reissue.
Old passport booklet:
The applicant is also required to submit his/her expired passport booklet before availing a new passport.
Self-attested copy of first and last pages of the booklet:
The individual is needed to submit self-attested copies of the first two and last two pages of the old passport booklet.
Appointment application receipt:
The applicant must provide a printout of the final page that verifies the payment, time, and date of the appointment if the Passport Seva Kendra appointment was scheduled online.
